Course Description: Human Centric Interviewing ™ is a trauma-informed, human‑centered forensic interviewing approach that is used for interviewing anyone who has encountered a traumatic experience, including victims/survivors, witnesses, and suspects. It is pre-approved by the National Advocates Credentialing Program and by the National Children's Alliance, making this model a universal forensic interviewing method appropriate for all ages.
This immersive course blends foundational science, evidence-informed interviewing practices, guided practice, real-world case studies, and interactive exercises to help participants elicit accurate, detailed narratives from interviewees.
Participants will learn how to establish trust and create a safe, controlled environment in which individuals can disclose painful and complex experiences. The curriculum centers on human-centered, trauma-informed, and healing focused forensic interviewing techniques, enabling professionals to gather credible testimonies with precision and sensitivity.

HUMAN CENTRIC INTERVIEWING is a 45-hour thorough, interactive training that is pre-approved by NCA and NACP (40 hours is in person/5 hours is outside the classroom and will consist of prework/reading).
Trainers: Kristin Daley and Kenny Smith are Co-Founders of K Training & Consulting, whose mission is to transform systems by centering the human experience. Specializing in sexual violence prevention, response, and investigations, we provide trauma-informed training, consulting, and resources that equip service professionals to respond effectively and with integrity, strengthening investigations, increasing offender accountability, and supporting survivor healing. Grounded in decades of experience and guided by the voices of survivors and science, we bridge the gap between policy and practice, creating environments where people feel seen, heard, and supported, and where better outcomes are not just possible, but expected.
Eligibility: Due to limited capacity and grant funding restrictions, this training is only open to individuals working in law enforcement or prosecution.
