What you will do in this role

The Campus Advocate Coordinator serves as Oregon SATF’s technical expert for campus-based advocacy program development, implementation, and evaluation.

You will spend your time:

  • Providing high quality, timely, and relevant training and technical assistance regarding advocacy program and policy development, survivor services, and community engagement for Oregon’s institutions of higher education;

  • Serving as the point of contact and main technical assistance provider for eight campus-based advocacy programs across the state, in partnership with Oregon DOJ’s Crime Victim and Survivor Services division. This includes assisting grantees with technical assistance to support their grant goals and objectives, hosting monthly Campus Advocate Cohort meetings to provide support and community space for campus-based advocates, and working to advance the work of campus-based advocates in Oregon.

  • Coordinating Oregon SATF’s quarterly, statewide Advocacy Response Committee. This group of advocate working across the state meet to create resources and guidance to support advocates supporting survivors of sexual violence across Oregon;

  • Collaborating with Oregon SATF’s Campus Coordinator to create, implement, and evaluate program goals and strategic planning for the Oregon SATF Campus program; and

  • Collaborating with other Oregon SATF program staff, instructors, and community stakeholders to create, implement, and evaluate agency-wide initiatives related to the response to and prevention of sexual violence.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Providing timely, accurate, and responsive training and technical assistance to colleges and universities across Oregon, with special emphasis on VOCA-Campus Advocacy grantee campuses (currently, there are eight campuses);

  • Creation of guidance materials (such as position papers, sample policies, outreach materials, handouts, and other resources for campus-based advocates);

  • Reviewing and updating Oregon SATF’s online, 40-hour campus advocacy curriculum, with a focus on adult-learners of diverse backgrounds; 

  • Creating and maintaining documents required for grant reporting purposes; and,

  • Coordinating all aspects of Oregon SATF’s statewide Advocacy Response Committee, and Campus Advocate Cohort. This includes tasks such as creating agendas, recruiting new members, scheduling and facilitating meetings for advocates across the state (via Zoom) on a monthly basis, taking meeting minutes, and collaborating with Oregon SATF’s Membership Coordinator.

Minimum qualifications

We recognize that your time is valuable. For transparency, we will be looking for the following minimum qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years’ experience coordinating or administering services for survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence;

-OR-

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to four years of experience that supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the position.

The most competitive candidates for this position will possess the following attributes, experience, and knowledge:

  • Experience developing and creating campus-based advocacy programs and/or coordinating advocacy services or college students.

  • Familiarity with Title IX, Clery, and other laws impacting student survivors.

  • Experience working with students attending an institution of higher education (college or university, including community colleges).

  • Experience with accessibility services, or optimizing program services to serve survivors with disabilities.

  • Experience working with online learning management systems (“LMS”) such as Moodle, Blackboard, ScholarLMS, or similar platforms.

  • Experience working with grant-funded programs or initiatives, including Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) or Office for Violence Against Women (OVW) grant funds.
