June 2024 Strategic Plan Update

As June comes to a close, our team at Oregon SATF is excited to provide an update on our organizational strategic planning so far.

Oregon SATF staff and board members gathered at the end of April for a day-long retreat to review the feedback that our community members so thoughtfully provided us through our engagement process.

We have then spent May and June digging into what this data means for us as an organization and are currently in the process of strategic goal development to establish and define priority areas to guide our work for the next 3-5 years. We expect to have a prepared plan summarizing the data and outlining our goals and next steps by the end of the summer and will share it with you all when it is ready.

In the meantime, here are a few highlights of two key questions from our community engagement process:

What is Oregon SATF doing well?

The information provided in response to this question was incredibly heartening for us to read and helped us hone in on our strengths as an organization. This information is crucial to support us in identifying what about our work feels meaningful and valuable to our shared community, so that we know to hold onto and build upon these elements.

Key themes that rose to the top include:

  • Facilitates meaningful collaboration across cross-sector stakeholders that elevates diverse perspectives and areas of expertise

  • Provides essential, high quality, and comprehensive resources and services that are responsive to community needs

  • Has a highly effective staff team who are knowledgeable, supportive, and innovative

  • Provides visionary and practical leadership in Oregon and beyond that leads to systemic change

  • Develops and models best practices while building the capacity of partners and stakeholders statewide to do the same

What could  Oregon SATF do better?

The responses to this question are critically important to us to identify where we have room to grow, improve, and make strategic changes. We are using this data to guide our goal development and consider new opportunities and strategies for our work.

Key themes that rose to the top include:

  • Enhance access to and increase quantity of high-quality resources and training

  • Deepen commitment to collaboration and communication with partners and stakeholders

  • Increase understanding and clarity of SATF’s priorities, scope, and identity

  • Strengthen response capacity and services, particularly through support for SANE and SARTs programs

  • Increase and stabilize resources by strengthening funding model and building capacity to meet needs

  • Focus attention and resources on historically oppressed, marginalized communities including Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and rural populations

We are so appreciative of all the perspectives and insights shared with us through this process and our team is thoughtfully preparing our goals and strategies with it all in mind. We can’t wait to share more with you as the summer progresses!
