SANE:

Working with Latine Survivors in Rural Settings

Original Air Date: May 18, 2018

Conducted in partnership with Proyecto UNICA, this webinar will help educate Oregon Sexual Assault Examiners on better understanding rape culture, racism, and barriers to services as they affect rural Latinx patients, as well as tools and resources to support them. At the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Verbalize two ways in which Latinx patients may experience complex trauma.

2. Verbalize three barriers that Latinx patients may experience in accessing care, and ways in which to address them.

3. Identify three resources available to Latinx patients.

*A note on terminology updates to this video: As language evolves, SATF will update our terms and titles of videos. Here, you will note that the term “Latinx” has been replaced with “Latine” (pronounced “lah-teen-eh”). This article covers the topic in more depth. In all instances, SATF recommends reflecting the terms used by survivors to describe their identities and experiences.
