What you will do in this role
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Coordinator serves as Oregon SATF’s technical expert for SANE program development, technical assistance, and training.
You will spend your time:
Providing training and technical assistance to certified SANEs and registered nurses working toward SANE certification;
Coordinating Oregon SATF’s quarterly, statewide Medical Forensic Committee. This group, comprised of roles that intersect with medical forensic work across the state, meet to create resources and guidance to support advocates supporting survivors of sexual violence across Oregon;
Collaborating with Oregon SATF staff to create, implement, and evaluate program goals and strategic planning for the Oregon SATF SANE program; and
Collaborating with other Oregon SATF program staff, instructors, and community stakeholders to create, implement, and evaluate agency-wide initiatives related to the response to and prevention of sexual violence.
Responsibilities for this position include:
Provide timely, accurate, and responsive training and technical assistance to certified SANEs and registered nurses working toward SANE certification. This includes answering questions via phone and email, and coordinating training logistics for hybrid SANE training (with support from SATF’s Training Coordinator);
Coordinate the SATF SANE Certification Commission. This includes scheduling and facilitating meetings, acting as the SATF staff liaison to the Commission, and coordinating the application process for SANEs;
Work closely with the SATF Sexual Assault Training Institute (SATI) Coordinator to support annual SANE training needs, continuing education, and ongoing practice competency; and
Coordinate all aspects of Oregon SATF’s statewide Medical Forensic Committee. This includes tasks such as creating agendas, recruiting new members, scheduling and facilitating meetings (via Zoom) on a quarterly basis, taking meeting minutes, and collaborating with Oregon SATF’s Membership Coordinator.
Minimum qualifications
We recognize that your time is valuable. For transparency, we will be looking for the following minimum qualifications:
Current certified SANE nurse
Understanding of the medical-forensic response to sexual assault gained through direct advocacy, provision of medical services or equivalent response area.
Program coordination experience that includes project development and implementation
Knowledge and understanding of sexual assault and violence, including the root causes of violence.
Desired attributes
Strong communication skills with professional writing and public speaking experience
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders
Ability to work effectively within medical communities and criminal justice systems
Ability to work effectively in a state level environment; and
Ability to organize and prioritize work
