Prevention + Connection Cohort
Since 2021, the Campus Program at Oregon SATF has facilitated the Prevention + Connection annual cohort to support campus prevention efforts across the state.
Our Mission: Ensure that Oregon Institutions of Higher Education (including Community Colleges, 4-year institutions and medical schools) are equipped with the knowledge, tools and professional support to:
Create campus communities free from violence
Meaningfully engage students and other stakeholders in prevention work
Center the health and well-being of campus-based prevention professionals and their teams, building capacity for comprehensive prevention to continue in Oregon
Build lasting connections and partnerships between Oregon colleges and universities
“This cohort is the only place where I can be with people who understand my job: the good, the bad, the barriers, the successes, and the unique context that people supporting campus prevention work navigate. I have been so grateful for the tools I have received in this group, but the community of people I get to spend time with twice a month is the highlight of my month. These are easily my favorite meetings to attend.”

-
Oregon SATF’s Campus Prevention & Connection Cohort is a collective of preventionists and staff from institutions of Higher Education across Oregon.
During our thirteen months together, cohort members receive tools, training and professional support designed to improve and expand the prevention efforts at their individual institutions.
At the end of our time together, cohort members will leave with comprehensive prevention plans, evaluation tools, and outreach resources designed specifically for their school’s prevention efforts.
-
Cohort members meet twice monthly for 13 months (starting June 2022 and ending July 2023). One meeting is dedicated to new resources and action planning, and the second monthly meeting is dedicated to professional development and resource sharing between cohort members.
Cohort members will receive tools and training monthly to support their prevention efforts.
Each participating institution will receive outreach materials (including training videos) and access to SATF’s online courses to support capacity building with community stakeholders.
Every school has unique challenges and opportunities when it comes to prevention. Because of this, cohort members will complete a variety of tools and self-assessments designed to support your community’s needs.
Cohort members can elect to participate in an optional external review of their prevention efforts by Oregon SATF and our community partners starting in September, 2022. This review process concludes with a written report detailing areas of excellence and areas of potential growth for prevention programs, with suggested next steps.
SATF staff and our community-based prevention partners from across the state will support cohort members as they design and fine-tune their prevention strategies with 1:1 support, technical assistance and resource provision.
-
$1,300 per institution (covers participation for two members, $100/month for 13 months).
Institutions that are selected to participate in the cohort will receive their invoice May 2022. Payment due August 2022.
Payment plans are available, please contact SATF Campus Coordinator Carli Rohner at carli@oregonsatf.org for more information.
