Campus Advocate Coordinator

Hear how to pronounce Lina’s name

Lina joined the SATF team in 2023. She has spent her career advocating for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. Her work began in her home of Réunion Island, a small French island off the coast of Eastern Africa, where she led data collection efforts assessing high school students’ understanding of sexual violence resources in their community.

Her continued interest in advocacy work brought her to Cape Town, South Africa, where she relocated while working for one of South Africa’s largest sexual violence prevention organizations. There, she co-facilitated workshops for refugee survivors, and helped organize advocacy campaigns demanding better access to support services.

Lina’s studies brought her to Oregon in 2018, where she received her Master’s Degree in International Studies, researching post-rape care and justice in South Africa. As part of her research work, she worked with survivors in Cape Town and Durban, centering their experiences navigating the justice system. After receiving her MA, Lina decided to stay in Oregon to continue working with survivors of violence in her newfound community, focusing on providing direct support services. She brings a survivor-focused lens to all of her work, and is passionate about centering people’s experiences and elevating the voices of those in her communities

Lina’s international work experience and education to this point have led her to her current role as SATF’s Campus Advocate Coordinator. She is particularly interested in contributing to systemic change by centering prevention efforts, and collaborating with decision-makers to create sustainable and holistic support services for survivors of violence.

In parallel to her work as an advocate, Lina is a language access activist and provides legal and medical interpretation services to Francophone asylum seekers in the US.

Outside of her work, Lina loves exploring new places, trying new food, spending time near water with her dog and her people, and practicing her language skills.
