What OMAV Does
-
Networking and Collective Action
OMAV maintains a directory of organizations and groups working to engage men in the effective prevention of and response to gendered violence throughout Oregon, facilitates networking and discussion through our email listserv, and organizes collective action and outreach efforts (such as our Cultivate Healthy Masculinity and Domestic Violence Awareness Month 10-10-10 campaigns).
-
Resource Sharing
Through our Resources page, the bimonthly Engaging Men Digest, and the email listserv, OMAV facilitates the sharing and dissemination of strategies, best practices, and other valuable information to promote the effective participation of men in the anti-sexual violence movement.
-
Engaging Men Webinars
Our webinars seek to connect experienced practitioners and researchers in sexual violence prevention and men’s engagement with all those conducting violence prevention and education work in various communities, with the goal of sparking dialogue, recognizing the intersections within our work, and increasing the effectiveness of all community-based efforts.
-
Technical Assistance and Support
Jonathan Gates, the Task Force’s Prevention Specialist and coordinator of OMAV activities, offers support to organizations seeking to bring men into their violence prevention and education efforts, guidance for the formation of campus- or community-based men’s engagement groups, and technical assistance at any step along the way. Click here to email Jonathan.
