Organization: Oregon Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Task Force

Position Title: Member, Board of Directors

Location: Keizer, OR

Expected Time: A few hours per month (2 hour Board Meetings on a quarterly basis, plus additional time for meeting preparation, additional trainings, service events, etc.)

Duration: Two-year term

Organization Description: The mission of the Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force is to advance an effective survivor-centered, multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach to the response to and prevention of sexual violence in Oregon.

We achieve our mission by providing training, resources, and support to organizations and communities working to prevent and respond to sexual violence. We seek to facilitate cross-discipline collaboration and cultivate victim-centered approaches to sexual assault primary prevention, victim advocacy, medical-forensic care, sex offender management and treatment, and criminal prosecution.

The Sexual Assault Task Force was formed as a non-profit in 1999 by Attorney General Hardy Myers and Phyllis Barkhurst at the request of a group of advocates and multidisciplinary responders in order to organize statewide efforts to address adolescent and adult sexual assault in Oregon.

Position Details: The role of the board is to ensure the SATF Executive Director, staff members, and committee volunteers are ethically and legally fulfilling the mission of the organization. The Board is tasked with approving and upholding the organization’s Strategic Plan, evaluating performance the Executive Director, ensuring responsible spending of organization grant monies, and assisting with fundraising and marketing campaigns. Support and advocate for SATF to maintain a survivor-centered, social justice, and mission-driven focus while navigating system-based environments. Board members are also expected to be active advocates for the organization and committed to furthering the cause for effective prevention of and response to sexual violence across the state of Oregon.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to maintaining a survivor-centered approach
  • Willing to continue learning about and participate in constructive conversations about social justice, racial justice, and the impact of privilege and oppression
  • Able to attend and prepare for quarterly board meetings
  • At least one year experience in one of the following: Direct-service to victims and survivors, Community Organizing, Human Resources, Education, Finance/Accounting, Fundraising, Medical training/knowledge specific to trauma response, Non-profit Governance, Business

Instructors

SANE/SAE Instructor

The Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force’s (ORSATF) Sexual Assault Training Institute (SATI) is recruiting sexual assault nurse examiner/sexual assault examiner (SANE/SAE) instructors to assist with 40-hour adult/adolescent SANE/SAE trainings, mock exams, and advanced trainings. SATI is looking to hire 1-2 instructors at this time.

Qualified applicants will have experience precepting and training health care professionals on SANE/SAE practice and have a minimum of two years of experience conducting sexual assault medical-forensic exams on adults and adolescents. Qualified applicants must complete and pass a criminal history check, and will participate in an interview and selection process.

Law Enforcement Instructor

The Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force’s (ORSATF) Sexual Assault Training Institute (SATI) is recruiting law enforcement instructors with expertise conducting adolescent and adult sexual assault investigations. Since its first training in January 2003, the SATI has conducted basic and advanced law enforcement trainings throughout Oregon and nationwide.  Our law enforcement curricula include basic and advance law enforcement topics including victim interviewing, evidence collection, suspect interview and interrogation, and more.

Qualified applicants will have:

  • a minimum of five years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in Oregon;
  • a minimum of two years of experience working as a detective or in an investigative capacity; &
  • experience investigating adult and adolescent sexual assault cases, above and beyond child abuse investigation experience

Prosecutor Instructor

This position will instruct on best practices for prosecuting adult/adolescent sexual assault cases.  Instructors also may be utilized for SANE training, advocate training, law enforcement training, and others as needed. We anticipate that instructors will be needed for approximately 40 hours a year. Additional trainings may be scheduled at which time trainers may be contracted on a per training basis.  Preference will be given to applicants who also have experience providing instruction, conducting training and/or public speaking.

Applicants may choose to apply exclusively to the instructor position, the curriculum development position, or a position that includes both.

Qualified applicants will have a minimum of five years of experience as a prosecutor and experience prosecuting adolescent and adult sexual assault (above and beyond child sex abuse).  Qualified applicants must complete and pass a criminal history check, and will participate in an interview and selection process.
